COVID-19: Epidemiological Update from the Meeting on September 24, 2020

Key Points

Situation in France

  • Increase in all indicators tracking the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic: emergency room visits, new hospitalizations, intensive care admissions, incidence rates, and mortality. Sixteen departments have an incidence rate exceeding 100 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Situation in Réunion

  • In week 38, a decrease in the number of confirmed cases and the incidence rate was observed. Furthermore, the Rsidep = 0.95 (95% CI 0.88–1.03) is below 1. Nevertheless, the number of cases in intensive care, the positivity rate, and the incidence rate for the 65–74 age group and those aged 75 and older are on the rise. The increase in these SARS-CoV-2 epidemic monitoring indicators indicates that the virus is still actively circulating.
