Dengue Surveillance in Réunion. Update as of November 12, 2019.

Key Points

  • Dengue transmission continues at a higher level than that observed in 2018 during the same period. In week 44, 16 cases were reported (unconsolidated data) and 14 cases in week 43, bringing the total to 18,060 confirmed cases since the beginning of the year;

  • Outbreaks have now been identified in Saint-Pierre, Saint-Leu, St. Paul, and Les Avirons, and 13 municipalities have reported cases occurring in weeks 43 and 44;

  • The co-circulation of the two serotypes, DENV1 and DENV2, continues across the entire island, and cases of secondary dengue are now being identified.
