Major public health challenges in Martinique.

Martinique is characterized by a socio-economic context that is less favorable than the national average and perinatal health indicators that remain a cause for concern. In recent decades, overweight, obesity, and chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure have been on the rise. While life expectancy is now close to that of mainland France for the general population, perinatal health indicators point to a significant number of unwanted pregnancies and unfavorable socioeconomic conditions that impact quality of life and physical and mental health.
