Key points

Bronchiolitis

Post-epidemic period.

  • Emergency departments - Five visits for bronchiolitis were recorded in emergency departments during week 10, two of which resulted in hospitalization. This accounted for 10% of visits for children under 2 years of age.

  • SOS Médecins - No consultations for bronchiolitis were conducted by SOS Médecins in week 10.

Flu

Post-epidemic period.

  • Emergency departments - Activity related to visits for flu-like illness accounted for 0.9% of all-cause activity in week 10, down from the previous week. Three visits for flu-like illness were followed by hospitalization.

  • SOS Médecins - The proportion of activity related to influenza-like illnesses is down compared to the previous week.

  • Sentinelles Network - The incidence rate of influenza-like illness reported by the Sentinelles network in week 10, not yet consolidated, is 47 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [4; 90]). Activity is down compared to the previous week.

  • Virological surveillance - Since week 40, 16 A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses, 6 A(H3N2) viruses, 18 B viruses, 4 seasonal coronaviruses, 3 rhinoviruses, 3 RSV, 2 metapneumoviruses, 2 adenoviruses, 1 A(H3N2)/seasonal coronavirus co-infection, 1 rhinovirus/parainfluenza virus co-infection, and 1 A(H1N1)pdm09/seasonal coronavirus/metapneumovirus co-infection have been isolated by physicians in the Sentinelles network from a total of 76 specimens.

  • Surveillance of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) in facilities for vulnerable populations - Since the start of surveillance, no clusters of ARI cases have been reported in facilities for the elderly or at-risk individuals.

  • Surveillance of influenza cases admitted to intensive care - Since the start of surveillance (November 2019), 5 severe cases of influenza in intensive care have been reported. None of the patients had been vaccinated (data available for all patients).

Gastroenteritis

  • Emergency departments - Emergency department activity related to gastroenteritis in week 10 is stable compared to the previous week.

  • SOS Médecins - Activity at SOS Médecins clinics related to gastroenteritis in week 10 increased compared to the previous week.

  • Sentinelles Network - The incidence rate for acute diarrhea reported by the Sentinelles network in week 10, not yet consolidated, is 41 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [0; 84]). Activity is stable compared to the previous week.
