Shigellosis outbreak in the Paris region
An outbreak of Shigella sonnei shigellosis affected the Île-de-France region; 153 cases of shigellosis had been identified as of August 9, 1996. A retrospective study traced the origin of this outbreak to February 1996, but the majority of cases appeared starting in June. A few simple rules of food safety and personal hygiene are reviewed.
