Youth Empowerment [Introduction to the Feature].
This report focuses specifically on the empowerment of young people. Young people (who do not constitute a homogeneous group) face particular risks in terms of social exclusion, a lack of—or failure to recognize—their capacity for action, thus forming a population for whom any empowerment initiative is particularly relevant. Thus, the specific challenges of transitioning into adulthood, the high level of economic and social precariousness among this population, and the insufficient consideration given to young people’s voices… are factors that underscore the importance of incorporating an empowerment dimension into any youth health intervention or program.
