Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Multiple Myeloma and Plasmacytoma

In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of multiple myeloma and plasmacytoma was 5,442, including 2,822 cases in men and 2,620 in women. Key points: Standardized 5-year net survival of 60% for people diagnosed between 2010 and 2015 (slightly higher in women); Significant difference in 5-year net survival between people aged 50 at diagnosis and those aged 80: 80% versus 42%; Improvement in 1-year and 5-year net survival between 1995 and 2015 and in 10-year survival between 1995 and 2010: +22 percentage points for 5-year survival; Survival improvement was more pronounced in the recent period and became less significant as age at diagnosis increased.
