Alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis: the latest trends among 16-year-olds.

The OFDT has released the first French results on tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis use from the 2007 ESPAD survey of 16-year-old students. Only alcohol consumption is on the rise: 13% of 16-year-olds report drinking regularly, compared to 8% in 1999. In contrast, there has been a decline in tobacco use and also a decline in regular cannabis use following a sharp increase observed since the early 1990s. An analysis of the data is planned and will be the subject of a future article in this journal.
