Visits to emergency departments in the OSCOUR® network and inquiries to the Drug Information Service related to cocaine use: a snapshot of the situation in 2025

In 2025, 6,529 emergency room visits within the OSCOUR® network related to cocaine use and 2,096 hospitalizations following those visits were recorded. This represents an average of 125 emergency department visits related to cocaine use per week in France in 2025. After a stabilization in emergency department visits related to cocaine use in 2024, a marked resumption of the upward trend is observed, returning to the pattern that began at least as early as 2012. Significant regional disparities are observed, with very high rates of visits in Brittany, French Guiana, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Visits still predominantly involve men (71%), and the median age is 33, which corresponds to the profiles typically observed among the heaviest cocaine users in the general population. Visits related to cocaine use are frequently associated with the use of other substances. Observations based on emergency department visit data and inquiries received by the Drogues Info Service follow the same trends.
