Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in Guadeloupe. Update as of July 25, 2013.
Situation Analysis
All epidemiological surveillance indicators point to an intensification of viral circulation and a geographical spread of the epidemic, which has so far spared the municipalities of Les Saintes and Marie-Galante. The DENV-4 virus has remained slightly predominant over the past two months, and the DENV-3 virus has been identified on two occasions. These two serotypes had not circulated in Guadeloupe for several years. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Psage Dengue system (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to emphasize the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and taking individual precautions against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
