Situation Analysis
All epidemiological surveillance indicators show a level of viral circulation identical to that of last week, with no intensification of the current epidemic. However, there has been a geographical spread to municipalities in southern Basse-Terre and the leeward coast that had previously been spared. The DENV-4 serotype, which had circulated very little since 2005, remains slightly predominant in June. The DENV-3 serotype, which had also circulated very little in recent years, has been newly detected. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Dengue Alert System (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to emphasize the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and taking individual precautions against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
