Situation Analysis

All epidemiological surveillance indicators show a level of viral circulation identical to that of last week, with no intensification of the current epidemic. However, there has been a geographical spread to municipalities in southern Basse-Terre and the leeward coast that had previously been spared. The DENV-4 serotype, which had circulated very little since 2005, remains slightly predominant in June. The DENV-3 serotype, which had also circulated very little in recent years, has been newly detected. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Dengue Alert System (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to emphasize the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and taking individual precautions against mosquitoes.
