Situation Analysis

All epidemiological surveillance indicators point to the epidemic continuing. However, some of them (clinically suggestive cases, probable or confirmed cases, emergency room visits) seem to indicate that the peak of the epidemic has passed. This epidemic is widespread throughout mainland Guadeloupe and the nearby islands. No unusual severity has been associated with this epidemic to date. The predominance of DENV-4, observed since June, continues to this day. This serotype had not circulated in Guadeloupe since the 2005 epidemic. The situation remains at Phase 4, Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to remind the public of the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites and taking personal precautions against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
