Epidemiological surveillance in Corsica. Update as of October 14, 2020.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Regional standardized incidence rate in Week 41: 88 per 100,000 population, a sharp increase compared to Week 40 (42 per 100,000 population);

  • Regional testing rate in Week 41: 1,861 per 100,000 inhabitants, stable compared to Week 40 (1,767 per 100,000 inhabitants);

  • Regional positivity rate in S41: 6.7%, a sharp increase compared to S40 (3.4%);

  • two new cases in long-term care facilities in Week 41;

  • increase in hospitalizations across all departments, stabilization in intensive care;

  • no new clusters in Week 41.

In Week 41, the incidence rate rose sharply in both departments of the island, while the testing rate remained stable. Incidence rates have risen above the alert threshold of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants and are very high in certain regions of the island. At the same time, the number of hospitalized patients continues to rise.

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

Six imported cases of dengue have been reported in Corsica since the start of the season (May 1) of enhanced surveillance for chikungunya, dengue, and Zika.
