Dengue Surveillance in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of September 3, 2019.

Key Points

  • More than 49,400 clinically suggestive cases since the beginning of 2019;

  • Since the beginning of 2019, 18,045 cases have been confirmed: the number of confirmed cases is declining over the S33-S34 period, with 44 and 34 confirmed cases, respectively (unconsolidated data);

  • During this period, 14 municipalities are still affected by active virus circulation;

  • St. Paul, St. Pierre, and St. Leu are the most affected municipalities;

  • Circulation in the west is increasing (10 cases in S33 and 17 in S34)

  • Compared to the winter of 2018, winter circulation remains at a higher level in 2019.

  • The two serotypes, DENV1 and DENV2, are circulating throughout the island.
