Epidemiological Situation
Guadeloupe: The flu epidemic continues in Guadeloupe. Since the start of the epidemic, an estimated 2,850 cases have been reported in private practice, and 59 emergency room visits have been recorded, three of which resulted in hospitalization. The influenza virus, predominantly type A, has been isolated in hospitals and in community settings. Since early November, five severe cases, all of influenza A, have been reported, two of which resulted in death.

Saint Martin: Since the start of the flu epidemic, 990 flu-like cases have been reported in private practice, and two emergency room visits have been recorded. One severe case, in which the influenza A virus was isolated, has been reported.

Saint-Barthélemy: Since the start of the epidemic in late December, 372 flu-like illnesses have been reported in private practice, and 27 emergency room visits—including one that resulted in hospitalization—have been recorded. Type A and B viruses were isolated for the first time from samples taken at the hospital.

Santé publique France Antilles reminds the public that vaccination is recommended for vulnerable individuals and healthcare professionals. The vaccination campaign has been extended and will end on February 29.
