Situation Analysis
All epidemiological surveillance indicators for dengue in Martinique point to the epidemic continuing. It has now been ongoing for 35 weeks. The peak of the epidemic occurred between mid-September and early October. Over the past three weeks, all indicators show that the overall trend of the epidemic is downward. The number of confirmed and probable cases has been below the threshold for the past two weeks, but the number of suspected cases has remained above the threshold during the same period. Indeed, a dengue outbreak has been identified in Anses d’Arlet. No unusual severity of this epidemic has been observed to date. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to remind the public of the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and taking individual precautions against mosquitoes.
