Key Points

Oscour® Network Emergency Department Visit Indicators:

  • Among adults, the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues in February 2022 was overall higher than in 2021 and higher than the average for visits from 2018 to 2020. However, the share of monthly activity was similar to previous years. The monthly number of visits was generally higher in 2021 compared to the average for the years 2018 to 2020, but the share of monthly activity was lower.

  • Among those under 18, the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues in February 2022 was generally similar to 2021 but higher than the average for visits from 2018 to 2020. The share of activity was lower than in 2021 but higher than in previous years. The monthly number of visits was generally higher in 2021 compared to previous years, and the monthly activity rate was also higher.

  • Other mental health monitoring indicators from the Oscour® network show no significant changes.

Indicators from the COVIPREV survey:

In wave 32 (February 8–15, 2022), no statistically significant changes were observed. However, there was an upward trend in the indicators compared to the previous wave.

In waves 31–32 (Jan. 11–Feb. 15, 2022), no statistically significant changes were observed. Nevertheless:

  • an upward trend in the proportion of sleep problems;

  • a downward trend in reports of anxiety and depressive disorders and suicidal thoughts over the past 12 months.
