Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of January 8, 2015.
Key Highlights
For the two SOS Médecins d'Alsace associations, cases of influenza and flu-like illnesses continue to rise and currently account for less than 5% of each association’s caseload.
Since September 1, 2014, sixteen respiratory samples have tested positive for the influenza virus.
Over the past three weeks, enteroviruses, rhinoviruses, and RSV have accounted for the majority of positive respiratory virus samples. In week 52 (December 22–28, 2014), six samples tested positive for influenza.
Following a peak in week 52, the number of bronchiolitis diagnoses reported by the SOS Médecins associations in Alsace has decreased. The proportion of bronchiolitis diagnoses accounted for approximately 11% of the total activity of these associations in week 01.
In week 01, the weekly number of gastroenteritis and diarrhea diagnoses made by the Alsatian SOS Médecins associations decreased: 229 diagnoses were made by the Strasbourg association and 109 by the Mulhouse association. These results are comparable to those of previous years during the same period.
