COVID-19
In the Grand Est region, the number of new cases has skyrocketed in week 52 of 2021 (75,250 compared to 29,745 in week 51 of 2021). The incidence rate has skyrocketed to 1,365 new cases per 100,000 residents, well above the maximum alert threshold (set at 250 per 100,000 residents), as has the positivity rate, which has doubled (14.7% compared to 7.1% in week 50 of 2021). The number of people tested is also increasing (512,061 compared to 421,525 in week 51 of 2021).
Viral circulation is increasing significantly across all age groups (from +113% among 0-9-year-olds to +229% among 70-79-year-olds). This increase coincides with higher testing activity across all age groups except among 0-9-year-olds, where it remains stable due to school holidays.
Bronchiolitis
OSCOUR®: In week 52 of 2021, the proportion of emergency department visits related to bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age was 12%, stable compared to the previous week. There were 227 emergency department visits for bronchiolitis recorded in week 52, compared to 245 in week 51. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit was 26% in week 52.
SOS Médecins: In week 51 of 2021, the proportion of SOS Médecins cases related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 9%, unchanged from week 51 of 2021.
