COVID-19

In Week 26 of 2022, the spread of SARS-CoV-2 continued to increase in the Grand Est region:

  • Increase in incidence across all age groups.

  • Increase in the number of new hospitalizations (all departments) and stabilization of critical care admissions compared to week 25 of 2022. Rise in the number of emergency room visits.

  • Increase in the number of COVID-19 consultations for the region’s five SOS Médecins associations.

  • Departmental incidence rates: increase in incidence rates across all departments. The highest rates are observed in Marne (983 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), and the lowest in Haute-Marne (639 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).

  • Variants: In the Grand Est region, the screening rate is 40%, and 98% of screened tests indicate a suspected Omicron variant (for tests where the mutation is sought and interpretable). In week 26 of 2022, 81% of screened samples carried a mutation consistent with the new Omicron sublineages, including BA.2.12.1, BA.4, and BA.5 (compared to 72% in week 25 of 2022)

  • Prevention: COVID-19 Vaccine Data: As of July 4, 2022, full vaccination coverage for the region was 77.6%. A booster dose had been administered to 88.6% of those aged 65–74 and to 80.4% of those aged 75 and older.

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for acute gastroenteritis (AGE), all ages (Figure 2), was 337 in week 26 of 2022. This represents a slight decrease compared to the previous week (382 consultations). The share of activity is 5.4% and is lower than last week.

  • Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for acute gastroenteritis (AGI), all ages (Figure 3), increased slightly in week 26 of 2022 (304 visits compared to 273 in week 25 of 2022), representing 1% of emergency department activity. The proportion of hospitalizations for GEA among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is 0.8%.

  • Virology data: According to data from laboratories in Nancy and Strasbourg, rotavirus circulation is now low.
