Key Points

COVID-19

  • In week 21 of 2023, the incidence rate has stabilized (29 per 100,000 population compared to 27 in week 20 of 2023);

  • The trend in incidence rates is stable or slightly increasing depending on age group. The lowest incidence rates are observed among those under 20, and the highest rates among those 70 and older;

  • Departmental incidence rates are stable in most departments compared to the previous week, though there is a very slight increase in Meurthe-et-Moselle, Haut-Rhin, and the Vosges. The highest incidence rate is observed in Meuse (41 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and the lowest in Ardennes (19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants);

  • The positivity rate (11%) is stable compared to the previous week;

  • The testing rate, however, is on the rise: 273 tests per 100,000 inhabitants in week 20-2023 (compared to 232 in week 20-2023); this increase is seen across all age groups.

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for acute gastroenteritis (AGI), all ages, is stable compared to the previous week, with 244 visits (compared to 258 in week 19-2023), representing 1% of total activity;

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for acute gastroenteritis (AGI) across all age groups has decreased compared to the previous week, with 397 consultations (compared to 387 in Week 20 of 2023), representing a 6.0% share of activity;

  • Virology data: According to data from the virology laboratories at the University Hospitals of Reims and Strasbourg, enteric viruses are circulating at low levels in the region.
