Health Monitoring in the Grand-Est Region. Update as of June 23, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
In Week 24 of 2022, there was an upward trend in SARS-CoV-2 circulation in the Grand Est region:
Increase in incidence across all age groups.
Stable rate of new hospitalizations (all departments) compared to Week 23 of 2022 and a decrease in critical care admissions.
Increase in the number of emergency room visits.
Since week 07-2022, the data now only covers the SOS Médecins associations in Strasbourg and Troyes. For these two associations, an increase in the number of consultations for COVID-19 has been observed.
Departmental incidence rates: increase in incidence rates across all departments. The highest rate is observed in Moselle (380 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), and the lowest is observed in the Vosges (220 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
Variants: the screening rate is 43.2%, and 97.5% of screened tests indicate a suspected Omicron variant (for tests where the mutation is sought and interpretable). In week 24 of 2022, 59% of screened samples carried a mutation consistent with the new Omicron sublineages, including BA.2.12.1, BA.4, and BA.5 (compared to 38% in week 23 of 2022).
Vaccination: As of June 19, 2022, full vaccination coverage for the region was 77.6%. A booster dose had been administered to 88.4% of those aged 65–74 and to 80.3% of those aged 75 and older.
Acute gastroenteritis
SOS Médecins: Since week 07-22, the data pertains only to the SOS Médecins associations in Strasbourg and Troyes. For these two associations, the number of consultations for acute gastroenteritis (AGI), all ages (Figure 2), was 249 consultations in week 24-2022. This figure is stable compared to the previous week (252 consultations). The share of activity is 6.8% and is stable compared to last week.
Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for GEA, all ages (Figure 3), rose slightly in week 24-2022 (273 visits compared to 237 in week 23-2022), and accounts for 1% of emergency department activity. Children under 5 years of age account for just under half of the visits, with 120 visits for GEA (4.1% of the activity share for this age group). The proportion of hospitalizations for GEA among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit in children under 5 is 4.8%.
Virology data: According to data from laboratories in Nancy and Strasbourg, rotavirus circulation is now low.
