Key Points
COVID-19
After 4 weeks of decline and 1 week of stabilization, the trend has reversed since week 10-2022. In Week 11 of 2022, the incidence rate continued to rise, reaching 1,300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 999 in Week 10 of 2022 and 762 in Week 9 of 2022).
This increase in viral circulation is observed across all age groups, with the highest incidence rate found among adolescents aged 10 to 19 (1,802 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
The positivity rate increased in S11-2022, ranging from 21% among those aged 0–9 to 34% among those aged 30–39 and 40–49
The testing rate is also increasing, and this is observed across all age groups.
Bronchiolitis
SOS Médecins: Due to a data transmission issue, SOS Médecins consultation data has not been available since week S07-22.
OSCOUR®: In week 11-2022, the proportion of emergency department visits related to bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age was 3%, representing 61 visits. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit was 9.1% in week 11-2022.
Virology data: According to results from the virology laboratories at the Nancy and Strasbourg University Hospitals in week 11-2022, the circulation of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is stable in the region.
Influenza
SOS Médecins: Due to a data transmission issue, SOS Médecins consultation data has not been available since week S07-2022.
Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for flu-like illness, across all ages, continues to rise sharply in week S11-2022 compared to the previous week (535 versus 356 in S10-2022) and accounts for 2% of activity. Children under 15 years of age account for more than half of the visits.
Virology data: According to data from the virology laboratories at the Nancy and Strasbourg University Hospitals, influenza virus circulation is rising sharply in week 11-2022 in the region, with almost exclusively influenza A virus.
Intensive care units in the region: Since the start of surveillance (10/04/2021), one case of severe influenza was reported in week 09-2022.
Acute respiratory infections in long-term care facilities: Since the start of surveillance (October 4, 2021), 12 episodes of ARI (excluding COVID-19) have been reported.
Gastroenteritis
SOS Médecins: Due to a data transmission issue, SOS Médecins consultations have not been available since week 07-2022.
Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for acute gastroenteritis (AGI), all ages, continues to rise in week 11-2022 (871 visits compared to 834 in week 10-2022), accounting for 3% of department activity. Children under 5 years of age still account for the majority of this activity, with 595 visits for GEA (16% of activity for this age group). The proportion of hospitalizations for GEA across all ages among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit remains stable at 3%, and is slightly higher among children under 5 (27%).
Virology data: According to data from the virology laboratories at the Nancy and Strasbourg University Hospitals, rotavirus is by far the most common among enteric viruses and continues to circulate at high levels.
