Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in French Guiana. Update as of March 20, 2020.

Epidemiological Summary

The spread of dengue fever has intensified in the Maroni region over the past few weeks, leading the Committee on Infectious and Emerging Diseases (CMIE) to approve, on March 17, the proposal to move to Phase 4 of the Psage dengueª: “epidemic” for this region.

The identification of epidemic outbreaks in the West Coast and Cayenne Island sectors also led the CMIE to approve the proposal to move these two sectors to Phase 2, “epidemic outbreaks.”
The epidemiological situation in the Kourou, West Coast, and Cayenne Island sectors corresponds to the “epidemic outbreaks” status.

In the rest of the territory, the situation is calm and remains in Phase 1 of the Psageª dengue protocol: “sporadic cases.”
