COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Normandy as of August 27, 2021
Key Points
In Week 33 in Normandy, the situation is stabilizing, with the incidence rate showing a slight downward trend. At the same time, while new hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care related to COVID-19 have decreased slightly, this trend has yet to be consolidated, especially since the total number of hospitalized patients is still rising.
The regional incidence rate is down compared to Week 32 (-8%, 112/100,000), particularly in the departments of Orne (-25%, 69/100,000 inhabitants), Manche (-13%, 90/100,000 inhabitants), and Calvados (-18%, 108/100,000 inhabitants). In Eure and Seine-Maritime, incidence rates are stable. With the implementation of the health pass, the testing rate remains high but is declining slightly. The decline is observed across all age groups, with the highest incidence rates remaining among those under 60, particularly among 20- to 30-year-olds and 30- to 39-year-olds.
Given the continued high level of viral circulation, the widespread spread of the Delta variant, and with the start of the school year approaching, it is important to continue encouraging vaccination for all eligible individuals, while maintaining a high level of adherence to prevention and testing measures, contact tracing, and compliance with isolation in the event of infection or contact with a confirmed case.
