COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Normandy as of July 23, 2021
Key Points
In Week 28 in Normandy, the situation continues to deteriorate, with epidemiological indicators continuing to rise.
The crude incidence rate increased by 103% between weeks S27 and S28. The rise in incidence remains most pronounced in the Calvados department, where it stands at 124 per 100,000. The incidence rate was rising across all younger age groups (under 65), and was particularly pronounced among young adults.
At the same time, the number of new hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care is rising slightly but remains at low levels.
Data from Wave 25 (June 21–28, 2021) of the Coviprev survey show a relaxation in the adoption of preventive measures.
Against a backdrop of increased viral circulation and the growing spread of the Delta variant, it is important to encourage vaccination among all eligible individuals, with the goal of achieving sufficient herd immunity and protecting the most vulnerable. It is also essential to maintain a high level of adherence to prevention and testing measures, contact tracing, and compliance with isolation in the event of infection or contact with a confirmed case.
