Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of June 4, 2021.

Key Points

COVID-19

In Week 21, most epidemiological indicators continued to decline, but the virus is still circulating widely in Normandy. The impact of this decline, observed over the past four weeks, on hospital pressure remains moderate.

Additionally, Pentecost Monday was associated with a more significant drop in virological indicators (decrease in testing activity). This decline in week 21 resulted in a 33% decrease in the incidence rate during week 21. An adjusted incidence rate, accounting for the impact of holidays, is presented on page 6, showing a smaller decrease of 22% between weeks 20 and 21.

At the departmental level, all departments are seeing their incidence rates decrease. However, the departments of Manche, Calvados, and Seine-Maritime are seeing their incidence rates increase among those aged 0–15.

As health restrictions are gradually lifted, it is essential to maintain a high level of adherence to individual prevention measures, testing, and the isolation of cases and contacts. It is imperative to remind everyone of their individual responsibility to adhere to these protective measures and contact restrictions to keep the observed downward trend on track. Finally, it is important to encourage eligible individuals who have not yet been vaccinated to get vaccinated.
