Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of May 27, 2021.

Key Points

COVID-19

In Week 20, most epidemiological indicators continued to decline, but the virus is still circulating widely in Normandy. The impact of this decline, observed over the past four weeks, on hospital capacity remains moderate.

Additionally, Ascension Thursday was associated with a more significant drop in virological indicators (decrease in testing activity). This decline in Week S19 led to a 2% increase in the incidence rate in Week S20. An adjusted incidence rate, accounting for the impact of holidays, is presented on page 6, showing a favorable trend of –14% between Weeks S19 and S20.

At the departmental level, the Eure department shows a rising incidence rate (+25%), particularly among those aged 0–15 (9 clusters currently under investigation in schools).

As health restrictions are gradually lifted, it is essential to maintain a high level of adherence to individual prevention measures, testing, and the isolation of cases and contacts. It is imperative to remind everyone of their individual responsibility to adhere to these protective measures and contact restrictions to keep the observed downward trend on track. Finally, it is important to encourage eligible individuals who have not yet been vaccinated to get vaccinated.
