Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of October 8, 2021.
Key Points
COVID-19
In Week 39 in Normandy, the impact of Covid-19 is limited. The incidence rate is low, and indicators in urban areas and long-term care facilities are stable or declining. Hospital activity remains moderate, with a continued decline in the number of new hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care.
Bronchiolitis
In week 39, SOS-Médecins activity for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age remained stable at a low level, lower than that observed in previous years. In emergency departments, activity increased to a moderate level, higher than in previous years.
These data may have been impacted by the strike by SOS-Médecins associations earlier in the week.
Gastroenteritis
Activity for gastroenteritis was low and close to the levels observed in previous years at SOS-médecins and in emergency departments.
Influenza
In week 39, at the national level, the influenza virus began circulating, and several strains have been isolated in Normandy since week 36. Although this circulation is common at this time of year, the past 18 months without the presence of influenza viruses may have lowered the level of herd immunity, leading to even greater vigilance regarding the evolution of influenza circulation.
