COVID-19
In week 04-2023, the region’s four SOS Médecins associations (Nîmes, Montpellier, Perpignan, and Toulouse) recorded 24 cases of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 (or 66 cases per 10,000 consultations), remaining stable at a low level for several weeks.
Weekly COVID-19 activity in emergency departments remained stable at a low level in Occitanie, with 56 suspected cases of COVID-19 in week 04-2023, or 23 suspected cases per 10,000 consultations over the latest reporting period.
According to data available as of January 31, 2023, at 2:00 PM, 1,031 COVID-19 cases were currently hospitalized in Occitanie, of which 6.2% (N=64) were in critical care units (resuscitation, intensive care, and continuous monitoring). At the regional level and across all age groups, the decline in the weekly number of new hospitalizations and the number of new admissions to critical care units continued in week 04-2023 (108, a decrease of 42%, and 22, a decrease of 37%, respectively).
Influenza
Oscour® Network: visits for all ages due to a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were on the rise again compared to the previous week across all age groups. This increase was primarily observed in the Pyrénées-Orientales, Tarn, Haute-Garonne, and Aveyron. In week 04-2023, 292 visits for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 1.2% of all visits (218 visits in week 03-2023). Of these visits, 15.9% resulted in hospitalization. These hospitalizations accounted for 0.5% of total hospitalizations.
SOS Médecins: procedures for all ages involving a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness remained stable compared to the previous week across all branches, although a slight increase was noted at SOS Médecins Toulouse. In week 04-2023, 420 consultations for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 11.6% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (420 consultations in week 03-2023).
Sentinelles Network: the incidence rate of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was 133/100,000 [85; 181], stable compared to the previous week (139/100,000).
Bronchiolitis
Oscour® Network: visits for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age were stable compared to previous weeks. In week 04-2023, 153 visits for this diagnosis in this age group were recorded, representing 11.9% of visits in this age group (165 visits in week 03-2023). Of these visits, 65 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 42.5% for this diagnosis and 27.7% of all hospitalizations in this age group.
SOS Médecins: the number of cases diagnosed with bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was decreasing compared to previous weeks. In week 04-2023, 12 cases diagnosed as bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were recorded, representing 4.9% of the overall activity of SOS Médecins associations in this age group (18 cases in week 03-2023).
Gastroenteritis and acute diarrhea
Moderate activity in private practice (SOS Médecins) and moderate in hospital settings (Oscour® network).
