Health Monitoring in the Occitanie Region. Update as of February 9, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In hospital settings, according to data reported by emergency departments to the Oscour® network, visits for suspected COVID-19 remained stable compared to the previous week, at a low level (57 emergency department visits, or 20 per 10,000 consultations). At the regional level and across all age groups, the decline in weekly numbers of new hospitalizations (less pronounced than in previous weeks) and new admissions to critical care continued (104 versus 128, or -19%, and 16 versus 24, or -33%, respectively). As of February 7, 2023, 895 COVID-19 cases were currently hospitalized in Occitanie, 6% of whom (N=53) were in critical care units.

  • In private practice, according to data from the region’s SOS Médecins associations, procedures for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases were decreasing compared to the previous week, remaining at a low level (15 procedures, 38 procedures per 10,000 consultations).

  • According to virological data reported in SI-DEP, the decline in the positivity rate continued in week 05-2023 (TP = 4.4%, -1.3 percentage points compared to the previous week, Figure 10), and this was true for nearly all departments and age groups (relative stability of virological indicators for the Hautes-Pyrénées and those aged 65 and older).

Influenza

  • Oscour® Network: Consultations for all ages regarding a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were on the rise compared to the previous week, across all age groups.

This increase primarily affected those under 65 years of age. In week 05-2023, 555 consultations for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 13.9% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (420 consultations in week 04-2023).

  • Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was 133/100,000 [85; 181], stable compared to the previous week (139/100,000).

Bronchiolitis

  • Oscour® Network: the number of cases of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was stable compared to previous weeks, while hospitalizations decreased.

  • SOS Médecins: procedures for the diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were stable compared to the previous week (Figure 2).
