Key Points

COVID-19

  • Oscour® Network: Referrals for suspected COVID-19 have remained at a low level since late January (76 emergency department visits, or 27 referrals per 10,000 consultations) (Figure 5). At the regional level and across all age groups, the weekly numbers of new hospitalizations and new admissions to critical care continued to decline gradually in week 10-2023 (77 and 6, respectively, versus 90 and 11 in week 09-2023).

  • SOS Médecins Network: procedures for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases remained at a low level and showed a slight increase compared to the previous week (27 procedures, 73 procedures per 10,000 consultations).

Influenza

  • In week 10-2023, indicators decreased in emergency medicine and among SOS associations, while remaining stable within the Sentinelles physician network. The proportion of type B viruses increased to 66%.

  • Oscour® Network: visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were decreasing compared to the previous week, in all age groups and in all departments except the Pyrénées-Orientales (where they were increasing). In week 10-2023, 230 visits for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 0.8% of all visits (287 visits in week 09-2023). The hospitalization rate following an emergency department visit for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness was 16.1% (0.6% of all hospitalizations)

  • SOS Médecins Network: procedures for all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were down compared to the previous week. In week 10 of 2023, 359 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 9.7% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (395 procedures in week 09 of 2023).

Gastroenteritis and acute diarrhea

  • Oscour® Network: Activity related to gastroenteritis was low in week 10-2023. Visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis remained stable compared to the previous week. In week 10-2023, 333 visits for gastroenteritis were recorded (including 157 for patients under 5 years of age), representing 1.2% of all visits (315 visits in week 09-2023, including 140 for patients under 5 years of age).

  • SOS Médecins Network: procedures for all ages with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis remained stable compared to previous weeks. In week 10-2023, 238 cases for this diagnosis were recorded (including 47 involving patients under 5 years of age), representing 6.4% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (214 cases in week 09-2023).
