Dengue Surveillance in Mayotte. Update as of June 23, 2020.
Key Points
4,463 cases of dengue have been biologically confirmed since March 2019, including 4,277 cases in 2020.
After several consecutive weeks of decline, the weekly number of confirmed cases, the positivity rate of PCR tests, and indicators from syndromic surveillance have reached relatively low levels.
However, there is concern that low-level viral circulation may persist during the southern winter, which could lead to an epidemic resurgence toward the end of the year. It is essential to continue vector control efforts.
Only the DENV-1 serotype is circulating, but the importation of other serotypes from the Indian Ocean region remains a real and ongoing risk.
