Epidemiological surveillance in Corsica. Update as of April 27, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
In S16, viral circulation appears to be declining, but indicators remain at a high level. The current number of hospitalizations across all departments exceeded this week the peaks observed during all previous waves.
The regional incidence rate is declining more sharply than the regional testing rate (in Week 16, 1,308 cases per 100,000 residents, a decrease of 17%, and 4,457 people tested per 100,000 residents, a decrease of 12%). The positivity rate is also declining (29.4%, a decrease of 1.6 percentage points).
Across all departments, the daily active caseload of hospitalizations has twice exceeded the peaks observed during previous waves (188 hospitalizations on April 22 and 23, whereas the highest peak of the previous waves, observed on January 24 in Corsica, was 169). Nevertheless, in general hospital wards, the active caseload is stable (103 hospitalizations as of April 24 vs. 104 on April 17), and in intensive care, it has decreased slightly (6 hospitalizations on April 24 vs. 8 on April 17).
