Violence against women: prevention by maternity ward staff.
Pregnancy is a key time to identify instances of violence against women. Any care provided to a pregnant woman should begin with a meeting that addresses both personal and medical aspects. A simple question about her experiences can help alleviate shame and fear. However, professionals lack training and tools. Systematic identification involves reaching out to the individual, which encourages them to speak up and helps reduce violence and recurrence. Collaboration among medical and social services teams and all stakeholders (maternity wards and hospitals, private practitioners, maternal and child health centers, associations, etc.) enables women to receive appropriate support.
