ATD Fourth World: Creating a Supportive Environment for Families in Extreme Poverty [Interview].

The ATD Fourth World Family Support Center provides temporary housing and social support to thirty-five families in extreme poverty with young children. It also offers social support to fifteen other families who have been rehoused in permanent public housing. ATD Fourth World provides comprehensive support: access to healthcare and public services, helping parents return to work, fostering social connections, and supporting children. This program is designed to promote family self-reliance: listening to their wishes and constraints, without treating them as recipients of charity.
