COVID-19
In week 05 of 2022, SARS-CoV-2 circulation declined, though it remains at a high level in mainland France, and the hospital situation remains concerning, with new admissions to general wards and intensive care units remaining at high levels.
Bronchiolitis
SOS Médecins: In week 05-2022, the proportion of SOS Médecins’ activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 2%, down from week 04-2022.
OSCOUR®: In week 05-2022, the proportion of activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age in emergency departments was 4%, a slight decrease compared to the previous week. There were 71 emergency department visits for bronchiolitis in week 05-2022, compared to 83 in week 04-2022. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit was 9% in week 04-2022, stable compared to the previous week.
Flu
SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for flu-like illness, across all age groups, is stable compared to the previous week (85 consultations in week S04-2022, compared to 91 in S04-2022 and 108 in S03-2022), representing 2% of total activity. No hospitalizations for flu-like symptoms have been reported following an SOS Médecins consultation since the beginning of the year.
Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for influenza-like illness, all ages, remained stable in week S04-2022 compared to the previous week (44 versus 39 in S04-2022), representing 0.2% of activity. The proportion of hospitalizations for flu-like illness among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is approximately 0.1%.
Gastroenteritis
SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for gastroenteritis, across all age groups, increased in week 05-2022 compared to week 04-2022 (581 consultations versus 501 in week 04-2022), representing an activity share of 11% (versus 9% in week 04-2022). This increase is mainly driven by children under 5, for whom the number of consultations (219) and the share of activity (21%) in week 05 are among the highest observed in recent years for this age group.
Oscour®: the number of emergency department visits for GEA, all ages (Figure 8), continued to rise in Week 05-2022 compared to Week 03-2022 (599 visits versus 513 in Week 04-2022), representing a share of activity that remains stable at around 3% (compared to 2% in Week 04-2022). The proportion of hospitalizations for GEA among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is 3% (compared to 2% in week 04-2022). Children under 5 years of age represent the most affected age group, with 440 visits for GEA (15% of the activity share).
