Acute Respiratory Infections and Gastroenteritis in Occitanie. Bulletin dated February 6, 2025.

Key points

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)

  • In Week 05, activity related to acute respiratory infections across all age groups was slightly lower in primary care and in hospitals.

  • A very large proportion of ARI activity was related to consultations for influenza viruses (72% at SOS Médecins and 58% in emergency departments).

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • The Occitanie region was in S05 during its 8th epidemic week.

  • Trends varied depending on the data source.

  • However, the fluctuations observed were moderate compared to last week, reflecting generally stable circulation.

  • As in the previous week, indicator levels remained very high. They exceeded the levels observed during the epidemic peaks of the two previous seasons.

  • The same trends were observed across all age groups, but levels were particularly high among children under 15.

Covid-19

  • In week 04, regional indicators were stable at a low level.

Gastroenteritis and acute diarrhea

  • In the Occitanie region, the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice and visits to emergency care were generally stable in week 05 compared to the previous week.

  • Among the youngest children, there was even a decrease in these indicators for SOS consultations and visits to emergency facilities in the Oscour® network.
