Chikungunya, dengue, West Nile virus, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of November 5, 2024.

  • From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.

  • In Occitanie, from May 1 to November 5, 2024, 152 imported cases of dengue, 2 imported cases of chikungunya, and 1 imported case of Zika were identified. Five locally acquired cases of dengue were also identified: 3 in Hérault and 2 in Pyrénées-Orientales (with possible transmission in Lozère).

  • Eleven locally acquired cases of West Nile Virus (WNV) infection were also identified in Occitanie: 8 in Hérault, including 1 neuroinvasive case (2 in Montpellier, 1 in Teyran, 1 in Vendargues, 2 in Restinclières, 1 in Baillargues, and 1 in Lattes), as well as 3 in the Gard (2 in Vauvert and 1 in Junas).
