Key Points

Continued increase in vaccination rates in 2019 and 2020 for both:

  • among infants:

    • +5 percentage points in the use of hexavalent vaccines including the hepatitis B component, compared to 2017,

    • +12 percentage points in coverage against meningococcal C for the first recommended dose at 5 months,

    • Moderate gains for pneumococcal and measles vaccines, with +1 or +2 percentage points (Maine-et-Loire, Sarthe, and Vendée saw gains exceeding +2/3 percentage points)

  • among children born before 2018, implementation of the expanded vaccination mandate:

    • +7 points for the first dose of the human papillomavirus vaccine among 15-year-old girls born in 2005 (50%) compared to coverage among girls born in 2004 (43%),

    • At least a 3-point increase in coverage against meningococcal C in the targeted age groups, but still particularly insufficient among those aged 10 and older (highest in Mayenne, lowest in Loire-Atlantique)

  • among individuals at risk for influenza, with a coverage rate of 59% during the last flu season, compared to 50% during the previous season

Vaccination coverage among healthcare professionals, results of the 2019 estimation study:

  • Flu 32%, chickenpox 18%, lower than the national average, unlike measles 80%, pertussis 59%,

  • Highest among midwives and physicians for all vaccines,

  • Higher in departments caring for the most vulnerable patients (intensive care, oncology, hematology, pediatrics) and in nursing homes, particularly for measles and pertussis coverage,

  • Coverage rates increase with eligibility for the flu vaccine: nursing assistants 14%, nurses 33%, midwives 61%, and doctors 83%.
