COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of April 1, 2021
Key points
Guadeloupe
Virological surveillance indicators have fluctuated at a high level over the past three weeks. Overall, a stable trend in all surveillance indicators was observed over the past five weeks. The incidence rate was above the alert threshold and the positivity rate above the vigilance threshold. In week 2021-12, among the screened positive RT-PCR tests, the proportion of the English variant (20I/501Y.V1) was over 90%. As of April 1, the effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated from SI-DEP data over the past 7 days was not significantly below 1: 0.93 [0.83–1.02].
Saint-Barthélemy
Virological surveillance indicators declined last week, reaching levels observed in the first half of March. However, SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains active. Low-level local transmission of the UK variant (20I/501Y.V1) is currently being identified.
Saint Martin
Virological surveillance indicators have been stable over the past five weeks, with a positivity rate below 5% (vigilance threshold). Emergency department activity for suspected COVID-19 also remained at a low level. No clusters have been reported in recent weeks. Low-level circulation of the UK variant (20I/501Y.V1) has been identified since early March.
