COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of April 23, 2021

Key points

Guadeloupe

Surveillance indicators have remained generally stable at a high level for two consecutive weeks, although an increase in the incidence rate was observed and correlated with increased testing. At the same time, the positivity rate decreased slightly. Both the incidence and positivity rates were above their respective alert thresholds. In hospitals, activity was stable. However, hospital strain persists, with a significant number of hospitalized cases across all departments and in intensive care. The R-effectif calculated from SI-DEP data for week 2021-15 was not significantly higher than 1: 1.08 [1.00–1.15].

Saint-Barthélemy

For the past three weeks, virological surveillance indicators have remained stable at a low level. The positivity rate has been below the vigilance threshold for four weeks. Activity in emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 cases also remained low. No clusters have been reported over the past three weeks.

Saint Martin

Virological surveillance indicators remained at a low level last week despite a slight increase in the positivity rate (still below the 5% vigilance threshold), an incidence rate reaching the 50/100,000-inhabitant alert threshold, and a declining testing rate. Emergency department activity for suspected COVID-19 also remained at a low level. No new clusters have been reported since early February (2021-05).
