COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of April 7, 2022

Key points

In Guadeloupe

The epidemiological situation remained stable compared to the previous week, although a decrease in the incidence rate was observed. This decrease occurred against a backdrop of reduced testing activity. The effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated for samples collected between March 27 and April 2, 2022, was 0.92—95% CI [0.89–0.96]—significantly below 1 for the first time since Week 9. In hospitals, monitoring indicators were also stable in Week 13.

In Saint Martin

In Saint Martin, following an increase in the number of new cases recorded since Week 11, a decrease was observed in Week 13. This decrease occurred against a backdrop of a decline in the testing rate, while the positivity rate remained stable. In hospitals, the situation was stable, with only three new emergency room visits recorded. No new hospitalizations for COVID-19 and no new deaths were recorded this week.

In Saint-Barthélemy

In Saint-Barthélemy, despite the decrease in the incidence rate—partly due to reduced testing—the number of new cases remains high in Week 13. However, the situation in hospitals is calm. Only two new visits to the emergency room for COVID-19 were recorded. Furthermore, no new hospitalizations for COVID-19 and no new deaths were recorded this week.
