COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of August 6, 2021

In week 2021-30, the epidemiological situation continued to deteriorate. The number of new cases was nearly three times higher than in the previous week. Positivity and incidence rates were rising and exceeded their respective alert thresholds, with testing rates also on the rise. The 20–29 age group was particularly affected. In hospitals, pressure on healthcare facilities was increasing, with a high number of new hospitalizations across all departments. The R-effectif calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between July 28 and August 3 was 2.27 [2.21–2.34], significantly higher than 1.
Saint Martin
In Saint-Martin, all epidemiological indicators were on the rise during week 2021-30, reflecting a sharp resurgence in viral circulation. Indeed, incidence and positivity rates were increasing, alongside a rise in testing. In hospitals, the number of emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 was also rising.
Saint Barthélemy
During week 2021-30, the epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 was relatively stable but remained at a high level. Positivity and incidence rates were stable and remained above the respective vigilance and alert thresholds, while testing rates also remained stable. The 15–44 age group was particularly affected. In the hospital, six new admissions were recorded during week 2021-30.
