COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of July 9, 2021

Key points

Guadeloupe

The incidence rate has remained below the alert threshold for the past four weeks and decreased slightly in week 2021-26. Other virological indicators (positivity rate and testing rate) remained relatively stable. In hospitals, the number of emergency department visits was also stable compared to week 2021-25, while new admissions increased slightly. In the intensive care unit, one new admission was recorded at the University Hospital in week 2021-26. The low number of screened RT-PCR tests (<50) does not allow for the determination of variant proportions for week 2021-26. The effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected from June 30, 2021, to July 6, 2021, was 1.19 [1.02–1.38], significantly greater than 1.

Saint-Barthélemy

In week 2021-26, the incidence rate increased slightly amid a rise in testing. However, the positivity rate remained low and stable. Furthermore, no new hospitalizations were recorded in week 2021-26.

Saint Martin

In week 2021-26, the incidence rate remained above the alert threshold and was rising slightly, against a backdrop of increased testing. However, new hospital admissions and the number of emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 had been stable for the past two weeks.
