COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of June 23, 2022

Key points

Guadeloupe

Following the surge in SARS-CoV-2 transmission observed after the Carnival period (Week 10), virological indicators remained relatively stable in Guadeloupe but at a high level.

This trend toward stability appears to have continued in S24. Incidence and positivity rates were stable amid a slight decrease in testing. The 50–59 age group recorded the highest incidence rate. Furthermore, the effective R value for samples collected from June 12 to 18 was 1.08 (95% CI [1.03–1.12]), significantly higher than 1 and reflecting continued active circulation of SARS-CoV-2 during this period.

At the hospital level, the number of emergency room visits and new hospital admissions for COVID-19 decreased slightly. However, new admissions to intensive care remained stable in week 24.

Saint Martin

SARS-CoV-2 circulation remained stable in week 24. New SARS-CoV-2 infections remained stable amid declining testing rates. However, the positivity rate increased by 2.5 percentage points in week 24. Since the resurgence observed in week 12, hospital indicators have remained low.

Saint Barthélemy

New SARS-CoV-2 infections remained stable despite reduced testing activity. However, the positivity rate increased by 2.6 percentage points compared to Week 23. In hospitals, the situation has remained calm since the resurgence observed in Week 12.
