COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of May 19, 2022
Key points
In Guadeloupe
In Guadeloupe, although the positivity rate remained stable, the incidence rate rose slightly, indicating that the virus continues to circulate actively at a high level. The 50–59 age group recorded the highest incidence rate. Over the seven-day rolling period from May 8, 2022, to May 14, 2022, the effective R was 1.02—95% CI [0.98–1.05], not significantly higher than 1.
In hospitals, the number of emergency department visits and new admissions to critical care units increased, while new hospitalizations (in-hospital and home care) remained relatively stable. As of May 18, 2022, two deaths were recorded in Week 19, compared to none the previous week. Despite very active circulation of SARS-CoV-2 across the archipelago, no major impact on hospital admissions was observed in Week 19.
In Saint-Martin
In Saint Martin, the epidemiological situation remained stable compared to the previous week.
The number of new SARS-CoV-2 infections was relatively stable amid declining testing rates and a stable positivity rate.
In hospitals, the situation was calm in Week 19.
In Saint-Barthélemy
In Saint-Barthélemy, virological indicators were declining, in tandem with the decrease in testing activity. The hospital situation has remained calm since the resurgence of the epidemic observed in Week 12.
