COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of November 10, 2021
Key points
Guadeloupe
The epidemiological situation remains favorable in Guadeloupe. Week 2021-44 saw a slight increase in the incidence rate amid rising testing rates after accounting for public holidays. The incidence rate decreased in all age groups except among those aged 65 and older, where it increased. In hospitals, the situation remained calm and stable compared to the previous week, despite a relative increase observed in emergency departments. Since the start of the fourth wave, this is the first week in which no deaths have been recorded.
We are therefore observing a slight increase in the incidence rate at the alert threshold for the second consecutive week.
Saint Martin
The positivity rate and incidence rate were decreasing in Week 44, against a backdrop of increased testing rates. The positivity rate has remained below the 5% vigilance threshold for eight consecutive weeks. The incidence rate remained above the 50/100,000-inhabitant threshold, but with a low number of positive cases identified last week (n=18). The situation in hospitals remained calm and stable despite three more hospitalizations compared to the previous week.
Saint-Barthélemy
SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains very low, with a positivity rate below 1% for five consecutive weeks despite a consistent and high testing rate. No cases tested positive last week, and no new hospital admissions have been recorded for five consecutive weeks.
