Key Points

HIV/AIDS—Consolidated estimates of the number of new HIV diagnoses and AIDS cases are not currently available for 2017 at the national and regional levels- In 2017, 58% and 87% of reports were submitted via e-DO by laboratory technicians and clinicians, respectively => all healthcare professionals must adopt e-DO to improve data completeness and modernize data transmission- The number of serological tests performed is the second lowest in France (61 per 1,000 inhabitants), and the number of positive serological tests is among the four lowest in France (1 per 1,000 tests performed). - The number of late diagnoses remains too high and has remained stable compared to previous years. This particularly affects heterosexuals regardless of gender and people born in France, especially those over 50

Gonococcal infection and recent syphilis via RésIST—A sharp increase in gonococcal infections in 2017, with the same number of cases reported for 2012–2016, primarily among men who have sex with men (MSM) and heterosexual women, who account for one-quarter of reported cases- The number of reported syphilis cases is declining following the increase in 2015 and 2016; MSM remain the vast majority (three-quarters of cases), but the proportion of heterosexuals is rising slightly, particularly among younger individuals. - At the time of diagnosis for recent syphilis, the most advanced clinical stage remains the most common- Routine screening has become the leading reason for seeking medical care for these two conditions

Gonococcal and Chlamydia infections based on the 2016 laboratory survey - The number of diagnosed Chlamydia infections was estimated at 4,000 (standardized rate of 164 per 100,000 residents aged 15 and older), the number of gonococcal infection diagnoses was estimated at 645 (rate of 28 per 100,000 people aged 15 and older)

Prevention—National screening awareness campaign “Know Your Status”—HIV PrEP is a preventive treatment that also enables comprehensive care to improve sexual quality of life, screening and treatment for other STIs, and updating the vaccination schedule—Treatment as Prevention (TasP) reduces viral load and stops transmission: "Undetectable HIV = Zero Transmission"
