Santé publique France Conference, May 30–June 1, 2017
One year after its creation, Santé publique France—which brings together the functions of health surveillance, prevention, health education, and public health intervention—is organizing the “Public Health Meetings” on May 30–31 and the “Reserve Meetings” on June 1. The central theme of these meetings will be: “Individual and collective determinants: what levers can we use to take action?” Centered on this theme, the three days of conferences, workshops, and sessions aim to facilitate the sharing of experiences in health surveillance, prevention, and intervention. Speakers from the agency, as well as external speakers from France and abroad, will take turns addressing a rich and varied range of current topics. Two plenary sessions are scheduled during the Public Health Meetings on the themes: "Dialogue and Openness to Society in Public Health: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects" and "Seasonal Influenza: Can We Better Reduce Its Impact on Mortality? ." The sessions will address topics such as: alcohol and pregnancy, breast cancer screening, the health effects of endocrine disruptors, and the impacts of exceptional situations on mental health. Finally, three workshops will facilitate skill-sharing in small groups and will focus on establishing stakeholder consultation, strategies to prevent social health inequalities, and responding to local public health needs.Santé publique France has been managing the health reserve for the past year. It now benefits from strong interdisciplinary collaboration during exceptional situations (support for health monitoring, epidemiological expertise, deployment of coordinators and healthcare professionals, etc.). In 2016, the adaptability of health reservists was demonstrated not only through the variety of their missions but also through their stronger coordination with other emergency reinforcement mechanisms in France and abroad. June 1st is an opportunity for current (and future) reservists to understand how interventions are carried out within the framework of the new agency and to discuss the Health Reserve’s participation in the European Medical Corps and the WHO’s Emergency Medical Teams initiative. Through several concrete examples of interventions, this session will shed light on the diversity of professions within the Health Reserve, the variety of interventions handled, and the highly interdisciplinary nature of the teams, models, and response times.Santé publique France invites all professionals involved in the health, social services, or education sectors (public health actors, institutional representatives, scientists, associations, and reservists) to the Centre Universitaire des Saints-Pères in Paris (6th arrondissement). Nearly 1,000 participants are expected.
